11th Annual Casino Night and Recognition Celebration - 2014

Mike Reca, Longtime Board of Education Member, was Honored

Mike was appointed to fill a vacancy in 2006 and served as the president of the board from April 2008 to December 2013. Mr. Reca's resume includes a myriad of volunteer contributions to the students and athletes in our community. Football, Field Hockey, Baseball, and the Wrestling programs have benefitted from Mike's dedication to the youth of our community. Selling concessions, coaching, and working the chains on the football field are just a few examples of Mike's volunteer activities.

Mike's tenure on the Board of Education included the passage of the successful referendum, "Classrooms for Kids"; improved test scores; bringing transparency through leadership to the Board;moving the school budget to November for the 2% cap; and hiring a quality superintendent in Dr. Steve Mayer. Most noteworthy is the implementation of alternative revenue sources.

Reflecting back on his years on the board, Mr.Reca expressed his biggest challenge was managing the enrollment growth. When asked about his proudest moments Mike replied, "Watching our students grow into successful and productive citizens with some of them coming "full circle" and return to Robbinsville to work in our district."

The evening's format began at 6 PM with a Hors d'oeuvres reception.. The recognition of the honoree was followed by a buffet supper and casino event. The evening included a "Texas Hold 'Em" poker tournament sponsored by Lighton Industries.
